January 7, 2021: Blueprint for Maryland's Future with Shamoyia Gardiner, Deputy Director of Strong Schools Maryland and Allie Carter, Lead Organizer for Strong Schools Maryland hosted by Rashida George and Amy Brooks
Learn about the progress of legislation that will change the scope of educational support for all students in Maryland schools ahead of the 2021 General Assembly session.
During the 2020 General Assembly session, legislators passed the transformational Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, a new, more equitable school funding formula that will expand career technical education, provide additional support for struggling learners, hire thousands more educators to increase support for students, and more. Unfortunately, the governor vetoed this bipartisan bill. The ball is now back in the court of legislators, who must override the bill during the 2021 General Assembly session. Now more than ever, we need the new investments and programs from the Blueprint to help all of our students be successful in the short- and long-term as we recover from the effects of the pandemic. So it’s up to us to demand that legislators override the veto and make it happen!
